Hannah Kardon (UVC Teaching Pastor; she/her) discusses with Drew Jones (Hyde Park Woodlawn; Loyola University Chicago; he/him) and Victoria Slabinski (Yale Divinity School;
she/her) touch, care, pleasure, trust, partnership, joy, community, relationships… and how the Church hasn’t always been faithful at exploring such important aspects of being.
As Sunday fell on Valentines Day, we were excited to discuss (especially during a pandemic!) what are we looking for in relationships? What are our relationships to our bodies? How do we prioritize what our bodies want & need? And where is God as we consider these things?
We believe all of these questions are areas of discipleship and discernment, and part of our lives we can talk to God about. Hope you enjoy!

Many of us (beloved just as we are) still crave to be made new in some aspect of our life: a habit, character aspect, or circumstance that hurts. We all hope for change. This Lent, we’re going to focus on how we can change through studying the transformational promises of Jesus, the science of personal change, and the spirituality of recovery.
This morning, Pastor Hannah begins our "Made New" series by looking at how we can turn around from harm and hurt. “Repent! For the kin-dom of God is near. Prepare the way.” Please join us!!

He began as a frat boy type but as I learned about toxic masculinity, I began to make a conscious effort to change Mick to instead focus on other aspects of “being a guy” and exploring pop culture references.” - @MickDouch

UVC, Emily McGinley- Executive Pastor, “What’s In A Name?” (Gen 32:22-31)
Monday Feb 01, 2021
Monday Feb 01, 2021
God has been called by thousands of names - from El Roi (the God Who Sees Me) to Mother Bear Who Protects Her Cubs- and everything in between. What we call God matters. It can change how we pray, how we experience God in our lives, and open us up to new parts of God’s very nature. Pastor Emily, alongside UVCers from our South Loop, Hyde Park-Woodlawn, and Edgewater sites, reflect on Jacob’s struggle with God. This struggle was just part of Jacob’s transformation however. Unsure of what is next, Jacob is ready to face whatever is ahead as his full self. As we wrap us this sermon series on the many names of God, we reflect on how God names all of us- “Beloved.” Please join!
**We will be posting the full interviews featured in Pastor Emily's sermon in a "Directors Cut Special Addition" series over the next week. Stay tuned!!

But God’s healing in this passage is not about a physical illness, but of restoration and justice. Join as we reflect on this good news!

We'll also explore what it means for God to be a "Good Shepherd" and how this concept opens us up to love of God and love for others.
